VACANCY:
Building Physics Engineer

Us:

We are a young and energetic business with a passion for sustainable buildings that are simple and robust. We harness science and technology to stay on the bleeding edge of efficiency in buildings. Everyone at Greengauge is constantly learning, via formal training, internal discussion, and a variety of exciting projects. We love an unusual challenge, because we learn so much. Our tight-knit team are constantly sharing ideas and inspiration, problems and solutions. We endeavour to collaborate across disciplines, both internally and with other organisations, to deliver great outcomes for our clients.

We are looking for a Building Physicist with 0 – 2 years’ experience who shares our passion.

You:

You will be responsible for analysing buildings, components and materials using a variety of tools and techniques, producing reports on the findings and advising clients and design team members on energy, moisture and compliance matters. You will be involved with the ongoing development, deployment, data collection and analysis of our building performance monitoring systems. You will attend design team meetings and site inspections, and be confident dealing with clients, other consultants and contractors.

Your IT skills will be excellent, particularly in Excel. Skills in common programming languages would be beneficial. You will hold a relevant degree or postgraduate qualification in maths, physics or engineering. You will have an excellent grasp of physics and maths, and be confident in applying them to real-world problem solving. Experience in the construction industry is less important than enthusiasm to learn about it. Training on commercial software tools will be provided.

A full, clean UK driving licence would be desirable as you will need to get to meetings independently – but we do use public transport, walk and cycle whenever possible. You will have good verbal and visual communication skills. You will be self-motivated, and have desire to learn.

At times it can be hard graft. If the deadlines all come together, you will be expected to roll your sleeves up. But we operate a flexi-time system so you can kick back when you need to, and we operate a profit share scheme for loyal employees.
In return, you will get to be part of an exciting, growing business where no two days are the same. We will invest in your skills and knowledge and help you achieve your ambitions.
You will be offered an ethical pension to which we will contribute.
You will be based in the wonderful town of Bradford on Avon.
