Staff Spotlight - Niamh Little
What do you do at Greengauge?
I joined as an M&E technician in the building services team but have had the opportunity to get involved with lighting design, and also material testing as part of our moisture analysis work.
What do you like most about your job?
Getting to work with a positive, motivated team and expanding my knowledge and understanding through the work. It’s nice to feel that we’re all working together to find the best solution for a project.
What has been your favourite project so far?
There’s a hostel we’re working on in Bath which is a really interesting challenge. It was one of the first projects I got to work on and was a great introduction to how mechanical services and building physics impact each other, whilst also needing to consider how improvements can be implemented within the constraints of a heritage building.
What are your hopes for our industry?
That more people learn about the need for, and benefits of, an integrated approach to buildings and their services.
If you could switch jobs with anyone (in any industry), who would it be?
I was considering doing a masters in museum conservation after I graduated – I think it would be fascinating and satisfying to help preserve historical objects, particularly fabrics.
What's on your bucket list?
I sew and I took the notion a while ago that I’d like to make myself a 3-piece suit before I’m 30… So I’ve got just under 2 years to make it happen!
