Renewables

Renewable energy strategies are an integral part of our design work but they are always only part of our strategy to reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions and providing a comfortable environment.

We work on a wide range of projects and project scales from single new build to Listed buildings, multi-residential to commercial. Our investigation in to low and zero carbon energy sources always starts off with our understanding of how a fabric-first approach can be first implemented and therefore how effective and efficient we can expect a renewable system to be.

Our design work with regards to renewables is wide ranging from early feasibility studies on single dwellings to large scale housing and refurbishment, to the detailed design and installation of systems on site. We work with contractors and specialists to ensure the correct selection, specification and installation of systems.

Understanding whether an installation is feasible and suitable often benefits from data gathering and this is something we actively encourage so that we can ensure systems are suitably selected.

We are always looking to learn and investigate and research new systems. As a team we spend time reviewing and discussing changes in technology and potential opportunities and improvements.

We look at the integration of renewables with respect to budget and where they will sit in relation to the investment in other fundamental ways including infrastructure and material selection.
