Staff Spotlight - Paul Smith

What do you do at Greengauge?

I undertake consultancy on low energy and Passivhaus projects. My experience in energy modelling, construction detailing and building science allows me to support members of the wider design team, ensuring that projects are delivered to a high level of energy and comfort performance.

What are you looking forward to in your role at Greengauge?

Hands down, working with the Greengauge team.

What are your hopes for our industry?

That we actively embrace the innovation and change required within the industry, to successfully deliver a truly sustainable future and provide buildings that lead to a positive impact on society throughout their life cycle.

What motivates you to wake up and go to work?

The thought of the “ripple effect” generated by my involvement on a project. How, utilising the knowledge and experience gained from working to the Passivhaus Standard might just influence a positive change within the industry.

If you could switch jobs with anyone (in any industry), who would it be?

I’d be a Salvage Hunter. Searching for and restoring antiques from all corners of the UK. What’s not to love?

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I have an ancestor who was a benefactor to Leeds in the sixteenth and seventeenth century. The memorial window of St John’s Church at the top of Briggate depict key moments from his life. Oh, and I own a Vespa Primavera from 1968.
